The way you do things affects the results you get. We all know it. We have people to teach us how to play sports and use machinery, but nobody has ever given us instructions on how to work ourselves. We often stumble through life, feeling frustrated when we recognise our own limitations yet are unable to overcome them. As Alexander Technique teachers, we use a combination of verbal explanation and guiding touch to enable you to be more relaxed, connected, and grounded. The verbal instruction combined with hands-on contact helps you to discover and stop your habitual ways of controlling and interfering with your body and mind's natural function. We teach you how to better understand the messages your body is constantly giving you, which we often ignore or misunderstand. Alexander Technique sessions are educational and designed to empower you
Although many people report great physical and mental benefits from having sessions in the Alexander Technique, the Alexander Technique is not treatment. It is not done to you by a practitioner. Rather, it is an educational process through which you learn to become your own expert. By observing yourself, you discover the ways in which you interfere with your health and learn to stop interferences with this natural functioning. By stopping interferences, you will experience benefits which are long-term - since you are no longer going about things in the way that caused the problem in the first place.
